X12 Reader Step

The X12 Reader step is used to read and translate EDI files.

Illustrated in the below image is a flow where the X12 Reader step is used to translate EDI files. The Filter step is used to filter for specific data requirements and a Buffer destination step to store the data in.

Adding an X12 Reader Step

To add an X12 Reader step in a flow, follow the below instructions:

1. Click on the highlighted icon as shown in the below image.

2. The below page will appear. Select or search for a Reader step to pull out the source data. Click on the Reader tab and select X12 as shown in the image below.

Configuring an X12 Reader Step

Illustrated in the below image is the configuration that is available in the X12 Reader step.

Strict Checkbox – Used to strictly follow the EDI specifications.

X12 EDI

String Encoding Section Used to determine the code that will be used to encode strings. It is set to Utf28 by default when the X12 Reader step is added. Other options are ASCII or Latin1.

Using an X12 Reader step

To use an X12 Reader step, follow the instructions below:

1. Click on the play button on the X12 step as highlighted in the image below:

2. Click the highlighted are in the image below to upload a file.

3. Click the Test button as shown in the image below.
