In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a view with the Ops Portal Graph control.

The Graph view lets you view output data in defined graphical chart types, such as; Line chart, Pie chart, Multi-bar chart, Stacked Area chart, and a Discrete Bar chart.

📝 These charts are still in Beta.

You can use the chart information provided by this view to monitor all data and investigate any issues and errors that you may encounter with the selected Flow's output.

The tutorial will show you how to:

Create an Ops Portal Graph View

Select the Control type of the view

Select the Flow

Select the Chart Type

Select the Chart Parameters

Creating an Ops Portal Graph View

To begin, you open the Operations Portal you created earlier, go to the Operations Portal menu and click ⨁ to add a new View.

  1. Give the View a name and a meaningful description.

  2. Then click Save.

Select the Control type

For this tutorial, let's select the Graph option.

  1. Click on the Control field.

  2. The selection list opens, now select the Graph option.

3. The Graph control window for this View opens.

Select the Flow

Now let's select a specific Flow.

  1. Click ⨁ to create a new Flow or alternatively,

  2. Click in the Flow field and select the Flow you want to use from the selection list.

Select the Chart Type

For this tutorial, let's select the Pie Chart type.

  1. Click on the Chart Type field.

  2. The selection list opens, now select the Chart option you want to use.

Select Chart Parameters

For this tutorial, we'll set the following parameters for the Pie Chart:

  • Chart Height: Set the size of the Graph to be displayed at 500 pixels.

  • X Parameter: Set the X parameter for the X-axis of the Graph as the Author's name as derived from the output of the Get All Books flow.

  • Y Parameter: Set the Y parameter for the Y-axis of the Graph as the Review field value as derived from the API output of the Get All Books flow.


Select the following options to further define your View.

For this tutorial, select only the following options:

  • Return Source: Select Auto for this tutorial.

  • Select the Execute Automatically checkbox to execute the view automatically.

Save the View

When you have completed the View's configuration, click the Save View button.

Test the View

It is always advisable to test each view you create in Synatic's Ops Portal.

1. Select the Ops Portal option in the Account menu to open the Operations Portal. This is also the method used by the operations personnel to process these views.

2. Select the Ops Portal view you created from the list of available views.

3. The result of the Graph view is displayed.

The view displays the Pie Chart depicting the Author and No. of Reviews values at the time the view was executed.
