Merge PDF Fields Writer Step

The Merge PDF Fields Writer step is used to integrate values from a source into a PDF file which is in a Base64 string.

Illustrated in the below image is a flow where a Record Generator Source Step is used to present the PDF array fields with the PDF file as a Base64 string. The Merge PDF Fields Writer step is used merge the fields in the PDF file with the values from a source. The Combine step is used to combine records into a single output. A Run File destination step to deliver an output file that can be downloaded.

The image below shows an example of a PDF application form.

Adding a Merge PDF Fields Writer Step

To add a Merge PDF Fields Writer step in a flow, follow the below instructions:

1. Click on the highlighted icon as shown in the below image.

2. The below page will appear. Select or search for a Writer step to pull out the source data. Click on the Writer tab and select Merge PDF Fields as shown in the image below.

Illustrated in the below image is the configuration that is available in the Merge PDF Fields Writer step.

Using a Merge PDF Fields Writer Step

The image below shows data in the Record Generator step. The PDF documents are referenced as Base64 string. In this example, the Base64 string is referenced in the 'template' field.

The Run File step is shown below. The File Type has been selected as PDF.

Viewing the created PDF file

1. Click the Execute Flow button shown in the image below:

2. Click the Create Run button.

3. Once the run has completed successfully, click on the processed run and then click the download button on the Run File step to download the output file as highlighted in the image below.

The image below is an example of the PDF file with the value that was integrated into a field on the form as highlighted.
