Word Writer Step

The Word Writer step is used to create a Word document using an HTML template.

Illustrated in the below image is a flow where the Record Generator is used with empty data. A Word Writer step is used. The Combine step is used to combine records into a single output. A Run File destination step to deliver an output file that can be downloaded.

The Record Generator source step is shown in the image below. This will be referenced in the Word Writer step.

Adding a Word Writer Step

To add a Word Writer step in a flow, follow the below instructions:

1. Click on the highlighted icon as shown in the below image.

2. The below page will appear. Select or search for a Writer step to pull out the source data. Click on the Writer tab and select Word as shown in the image below.

Configuring a Word Writer Step

Illustrated in the below image is the configuration that is available in the Word Writer step.

There are separate sections that are similar where the required data is typed as shown in the above image.

Record Template section – HTML template for all the Word data. This section is compulsory to use the Word writer step.

Header Template section – HTML template for the Word header.

Footer Template section – HTML template for the Word footer.

Wrap Result in Tags checkbox– Determines whether to wrap the generated record in HTML and body tags. This is not selected by default when the Word writer step is added.

Using a Word Writer Step

The image below shows data in the Word writer step. The record from the Record Generator source step has been referenced as highlighted.

The Run File step is shown below. The File Type has been selected as Docx.

Viewing the created Text file

1. Click the Execute Flow button shown in the image below:

2. Click the Create Run button.

3. Click the download button in the Run File step to download the output file.

The image below shows the Word document that was created.
